Cyber Risk Governance

Code for Cyber Risk Governance

GOVERNANCE - At Grant Thornton, led the development of a modern governance model around cyber risk, hiring a CIO and creating a Cyber function separate from the Technology function, following the NACD guidelines for best practices in cyber and technology governance.  Secured new ISO certifications for the firm for ISO 27001, ISO 27017 for Cloud Security, and ISO 27701 for Privacy

SECURITY - Revamped our Managed Security Services Provider, Managed Print contract and machines, SD-WAN, networking, firewalls, and security models.  Retired all end-of-life servers and upgraded all laptops to Windows 10.  Transitioned from Microsoft E3 to E5 with no disruption to the business, providing “end-to-end” security vital to a work-from-anywhere model. Created the first IT Help Desk chatbot, alyx, automating 77% of IT tickets previously solved by humans. Converted to an infrastructure-as-a-service model with a new Managed Service Provider.

Government Affairs.  Public Policy and Tax Legislation.

Served as Grant Thornton's Government Affairs and Public Policy lead for Tax Legislation.  Played a significant and strong advocacy role for “pass-through” entities, who were at risk for exclusion from the 2018 tax legislation.  Assisted Senators and Representatives in a nonpartisan manner in understanding the implications of potential tax provisions to the US economy and their constituents.
